Keep Your Head Up

I can admit that I haven’t been giving my all to the things I’ve done. Because of my lack of effort, it has resulted in events that made me wake up and realize that my actions are important and they actually matter. Because of my lack of effort, I didn’t pass some tests and I lost interest in what I was doing in my daily life. I was lost. I was uninspired. I was just hoping that things would turn out the way I wanted them to because ‘God knows what I want and what I expect, so I stopped trying in hopes of that “miracle” to occur without me doing my part.

Yeah, it doesn’t really work that way.

There isn’t a study guide or a step-by-step instruction manual to live this life. It isn’t a one size fits all kind of thing. Sure, the Catholic faith has rules, guidelines, and traditions that Catholics follow. We have the Bible to guide us but yet that isn’t enough for us to live. It sure helps us though. Not everyone will live the same experiences, make the same memories, live through the struggles and the good times.

We have been individually chosen by God to live. He chose you to continue breathing, to seek Him and to make a difference in this world, not just to be “a space filler.” We begin to compare and ask ourselves what have we done wrong to deserve “this treatment.” One of my pet peeves is when people say “God is punishing me/you.” God is not a punishing God. On the contrary he is humble, loving and an understanding God. We all stumble upon some rocks, others that may seem bigger than those around us, but what I do not want you to forget is what we are told in Isaiah 66:9 “I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born says the Lord.”

Know that whatever it is you are going through, you will be given just the right amount of strength to overcome it. Keep your head up. Don’t think your life is ruined because something didn’t go your way. I encourage you to find God through every obstacle and give thanks; for some reason, God knew it needed to happen. There’s a reason for everything, so maybe if you take the time to love your life and embrace what you go through, you’ll be more thankful to the things that you go experience and you’ll gain a new perspective on God’s love and mercy.

This week I would like for all of you to give thanks to God more, so in the moments when you haven’t or typically wouldn’t take the time to do so. Then, take a moment to see what God is trying to put together.
