New Year with God

Here’s to another year, another year of reaching and making new goals, events, lessons, laughter, family, and friendships. It is fairly normal to want to start fresh every year, begin new habits and set new goals. I tend to be like that too. Like the usual, I want to be healthier and work to become fit. Our goals come with hard work and determination. I want to share with you guys one my goals for this new year and I will share with you guys how you too can achieve the same goal.

My goal is to get more involved in church and have stronger faith. And let me remind you, not only is this a one-year goal, this is a lifelong goal; to stay faithful, be spiritual and love God above everything. Learning about God is something so captivating to me. I love to learn about my faith.

How do I plan to get involved and learn more about my beautiful Catholic faith? It’s not only going to Mass on Sunday’s but to begin to go to mass during the week as well. It will be a great way to really take the time to learn to love Mass in its entity. Reading the catechism is a great way to learn the specifics of the Catholic faith.

I plan to attend a bible study that is offered at my parish. I was very excited to find out that they are having it. Of course, me wanting to learn more about the gospel and God I decided to sign up.  You can go to your parish and find ways to get involved to learn and serve others and God all at the same time.

I am starting to pray the rosary more often. It is a wonderful prayer to pray before going to bed, or early in the morning. It is a way to call out to out Blessed Mother and Father all at once.  Whenever you get the chance, take the time to pray the rosary, and if you don’t know how, there are several apps to use to go along with as well as YouTube videos and booklets to use. It can be an interactive thing as well. Praying it with family and friends is a great way to pray together.

Lastly, to cast all my troubles, fears and joys all to our God without hesitation. To rely on him completely and love without ceasing. I try to live in a way that others see God in me. It can be hard sometimes because of my attitude and actions but once you realize and think about what God would do in certain situations or how you would act if he were right in front of you it changes the way you think and act, at least for me it does.

I have several things to work on and I am taking it day by day. In order for me to selflessly love others, I need to learn how to love myself. I am a work in progress and I know that God is always here for me and with me through everything. I can only return the favor by loving myself, loving others and Him.

I would be glad to know and hear about others going along this journey to strengthen their faith and relationship with God.

James 4:8-10 “Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.”
