What is living a pro-life life? Or what does pro-life even mean?
Most will think that pro-life is only being anti-abortion, standing for the weakest and most innocent.
That we only have two choices in this life, which is, against or for abortion? Which are labeled pro-life and pro-choice.
As a catholic, I’m definitely Pro-life.
But… Pro-life is more than just abortion. Why? Because we have to defend life from the very beginning to the very end. We have to defend our human dignity. We were made in His image and likeness, which means that from the very beginning of our existence we hold dignity and the right to live.
Yes, and most definitely defending the beginning of life, which is anti-abortion, is where being pro-life starts, but it doesn’t end there. We have to defend the ones that are being put down because of their color of skin, gender, religion, social status, and many other reasons. What about those that are being killed in war zones, those that are being put through the death penalty, are we being pro-life in those situations?
Life matters: Respecting the dignity and sacredness of human life is the fundamental decision, but like any other choice we do in life, it has to be supported through actions, many smaller and daily choices. We can’t just shout pro-life we have to live it daily.
So how do I live it daily? Love is above all, be person-minded, not rule-minded. Any dialogue about pro-life has to come from the heart because it’s a heart issue. Any feeling can only be dealt with in love and compassion. Jesus taught us that love is the most important characteristic for LIFE. Be the person that with the attitude of love defends the dignity and right to live for others. Value all life! When you are fully alive… fully pro-your-life…then you’re fully aware of the gift that life is. And by appreciating the gift of your life, you will be convicted that every life, from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death, deserves to be protected so that they can experience everything life has to offer… So they can discover God’s plan to make them a saint.
